Shooting Assignment #8

Head: The concept of this photo was to show a door with warn down wood, but no evidence really to what's inside and have viewers contemplate what was behind the doors.
Hand: This picture was shot straight on. I want to give the effect like the viewer was standing in front of the door waiting to go in. I used my standard camera and the HB2 filter from VSCO. Then I adjusted the exposure down, lowered the highlights by +12.0, and added a bit of a fade and vignette as well.
Heart: I really liked this image because of the boxed in feeling it gives. It very much focuses on the subject of the door, but the steps make it seems as though it is something to be approached, it's not just about the door itself. I passed this door at Kensington high school and was immediately inspired.
Head: The concept of this picture was to raise the question of what was beyond this door, and what had happened to this door/who had used this door before the make it so beat up?
Hand: This picture was taken with my standard camera. Then I used the 10 filter from VSCO, decreased the contrast by 1.2. Increased sharpness and clarity +12 and +6.7 respectively. Then, I added a slight vignette, a grain at 7.6 and only a 0.9 fade. I did all of this to bring emphasis to all of the markings and colors of the door and the bars on the door's window.
Heart: Once again, I was inspired by this immediately because I thought the contrast between the bright colors and beaten quality of the area was interesting.
Head: The concept of this picture was to focus on the Cuban flag and American flag and the word Bienvenidos because I think it reflected the most about the community of the place this mural is, as well as is part of a hot topic of immigration and how welcome people from other countries are in the United States, especially Hispanic people.
Hand: This picture I took with my standard setting. Then I used the BW Warm setting on Facetune, but erased the effect on the two flags and the word Bienvenidos. Lastly, I used the Darken lighting setting.
Heart: I thought this was the most compelling images I took because I thought it had the most conversational and thinking value apart from the aesthetic piece. This picture gave the most information about where it might be found, who created it, and also possibly lead to further questions about how welcome Cuban people, or other Hispanics may feel in the United States upon migrating here.
